1. Dang Dawgs!!

Forgot to link to this little video before.

Its a hover practice session that was accompanied by incessant barking from the neighbour’s dogs.  Man I hate small dogs!!

  2. Arduino Hookup

    by Bern

As people actually seem to read these ramblings, I thought it might be as well to add a bit more detail about the Enterprise lighting effects circuit that I’ve been droning on about over the last few posts.

First, how it all hangs together in breadboard mode.  I think the quickest way to describe the hookup that I cobbled together used is to list it like this:

Hookup info for bread-boarded Enterprise circuit

    • The Arduino Uno used was powered via by USB from a PC
    • The Breadboard was supplied +5v and Gnd from the relevant Arduino pins
    • Left Torpedo Bi-polar LED:
Centre (common anode) connected via a 180R resistor to +5v on the breadboard
White led (shortest leg) connected to Arduino pin 4
Red led connected to Arduino pin 5
    • Right Torpedo Bi-polar LED:
Centre (common anode) connected via a 180R resistor to +5v on the breadboard
White led (shortest leg) connected to Arduino pin 7
Red led connected to Arduino pin 6
    • RGB LED:
Common anode connected to +5V on the breadboard
Blue pin connected via a 270R resistor to Arduino pin 11
Green pin connected via a 270R resistor to Arduino pin 10
Red pin connected via a 270R resistor to Arduino pin 19
    • Switches are wired as per diagram below:

Here’s a couple of completely unhelpful photos that I took of the Arduino and breadboard together with the tangled knitting hookup cables:

  3. New Page!

    July 26, 2011 by Bern

Just to let anyone who is interested know, I’ve created a new page on which I’ll post any Arduino sketches that I think may be of use.  Its available via the Arduino Sketches tag above.

The first addition is the sketch behind the Enterprise effects shown in the last post.  It probably seems naive to an expert, but hey – it achieves the effect I was after!

My regular followers (Hi Mum!!), may have noticed I’m trying out a new Blog theme.  I think it may work out to be easier to read, once I can get my font colours sorted!!

At looong last – I’ve got around to posting this!
The Arduino code is now all sorted and the complete system seems to work with just two pushbuttons.
I’ve designed a circuit board which I’m going to be etching very soon.

I’ll update this entry very shortly – I’m at work at the mo’!!!

Lots of helicopter stuff to update as well
